This is why I gave up on scrapbooking on a regular basis. I love to do it, but it gets too overwhelming and discouraging once you fall behind! The last time I posted, blogger was acting so crazy and it took f.o.r.e.v.e.r. to upload photos; I think that just made me crazy enough to drop blogging for a while. But, Jay was out of town this week for a couple of nights, and the boys and I snuggled together in our bed and read old blog posts for hours on end. The LOVED it, and so did I. It was fun to re-read and re-live those memories, almost like looking through those old scrapbooks that have been put away. They begged me to post more often, so how can I resist? </span><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><span style="color:#33cc00;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="color:#000000;">I'll start with summer 2010, which is where I left off. Just a few pictures of where we spent most of our summer... King's Dominion! We definitely got our money's worth last summer; we were there at least once a week, and sometimes more often. This was the summer of the roller coaster for Reed. He conquered his fear, and rode them ALL! I was amazed, and thrilled for him! </span></div><span style="color:#000000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591390376686491218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinNCm6Qm3L5WevrAtgspfiEb4X-JKInBGFDQkgkFEX7miU70Qib9PkpzRIzeE3rtLOsoHOxmxBBopWK3y0cmYEhvZw6CmLOvH_Pl4RJGRcZ-GX-HMz5K68njptEg0xQLMpLz0BMVD5YKc/s400/100_4776.jpg" /></span><span style="color:#000000;">King's Dominion with the cousins ... the photo op in front of the fountains! </span><br /><div></div></div><br /><p><span style="color:#000000;">Reed, Mac, and Lily ride "The Dominator" ... their first upside-down roller coaster!</span></p><span style="color:#000000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591378762931584226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWhizyfUlRQi6a2eX-IgmdhdLt5ewRZtXv_8w8Dc9X4nxiz53hd8XDZvho2GY1oTf6RPqduz5Y0Y9hzloBRrOiOWaKC6F1VAN7JPQV-OWP0aFHXSMMZZbNuiU6A0bWDFOfQxwwyEjLr0c/s400/100e4823.jpg" /></span> <br /><p><span style="color:#000000;">The younger kids spent a lot of time on some of the tamer rides ... </span></p><span style="color:#000000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591383146714684178" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghlcWuwI1op1ftIL3HriX0iYu1NG5Y4cusDtH6dZ89uE16aEdeG2cSiyoWM1Ml7gU2gC12z5bzgn1-sDvFge6r9hK0vhal0CuNkaPSFFqMH6PGHy80y9iOIyGxK6-IPWqWrSnKkJoh7AU/s400/100_4839.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591383138506713362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieu_vRj7jKoPNbX_lv9JSITd1XRc6EYcIr4pEJuceKLJKZx4qTVVxWEPFsP_d37Fi-JKkGQUvyGW4Vq_FmeVtVg0LKDdseg7urlQQxYuDfeOPukR_wo82Lj-P7NmYKQwHeAleJcDnZlss/s400/100_4835.jpg" /></span> <span style="color:#000000;">More catching up later ... Unfortunately, he inherited my susceptibility to strep throat, and has suffered with several bouts of strep per year for several years now. He also recently was seen by his doctor for stomach pains, which Dr. B thought may be from chronic throat infection settling in his tonsils. All of this together meant: time for a tonsillectomy! </span><br /><div></div><br /><div><span style="color:#000000;">We were referred to a wonderful ENT, Dr. Tarasidis. He is a fun, caring doctor who put Reed (and us) to ease knowing he was in such good hands. Here is a picture of the two of them, just minutes before heading into surgery. Dr. T decided to pose for the picture, since Jay said it would definitely be appearing on facebook!</span></div><br /><div><span style="color:#000000;">The first few pictures are of Reed when I was allowed to come into the recovery room to see him. Jay had to go back to work, and had left just minutes before, so Reed called him to let him know he did great! He was sitting up eating a slushie when I got to him, and a sweet nurse (I didn't get her name) was leaning on his bed rail talking to him. When I walked in she said "Mama, I don't know what you've been doing with this one, but keep it up; he is precious". Do you even know what that does to a Mama's heart? Yes, I teared up. He had all of the nurses gushing over what a wonderful patient he was. </span></div><br /><div><span style="color:#000000;">And here he is being wheeled out to the car by the discharge nurse, Lizette. I think he liked all of the attention!</span></div><br /><div><span style="color:#000000;"></span></div><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-86736712906625368302010-07-11T22:56:00.002-04:002010-07-11T23:05:11.685-04:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTmsTxkxA4cPNzLS2Lmi_izY3MrpIg8RYqVdkI2Q4kzi9e5laTPhf82G8cx1843Qaynl4mLL6w_zxbEW8DfFmQCdic-EPld8U6VJeqrwx_mxwBtCiUhsqMJdnmYmjJ0t5nBCxConihMec/s1600/100_2738.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492848846498931346" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTmsTxkxA4cPNzLS2Lmi_izY3MrpIg8RYqVdkI2Q4kzi9e5laTPhf82G8cx1843Qaynl4mLL6w_zxbEW8DfFmQCdic-EPld8U6VJeqrwx_mxwBtCiUhsqMJdnmYmjJ0t5nBCxConihMec/s400/100_2738.jpg" /></a><span style="color:#cc66cc;"> Goodbye, sweet Laci girl. He entered a contest a few months back at our bank, and the winner got to be the "ball boy" for one of the rounds of the CAA Basketball Tournament that was being held at the Richmond Coliseum. Well, he didn't win the contest, but he did get to do it! In a casual conversation with a man that goes to our church, Jay mentioned the contest. The man then said that his friend is the one in charge of the CAA and he'd email him to see if Reed could be "in"... the next morning, he was "in"! Talk about excited! He even got us free tickets so we could all go and enjoy the games. We had a blast (and if you know me, you know that the fact that it was free made it extra fun!!) watching the game, but even more fun watching Reed enjoy this fun day. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452250759958581138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxJC64OY2hIm5bgscacd9h9Q4ybHQFgM6GlfN7WREZx8PWF37OfHfiBN6bfX9inIlXU_XBN33NY7acWOnCL4RA5iNhLNaF-tfx76ZmN87S1t9lK39uZ_dNcMsMNWUP_7uTKPwbFq2B-i8/s400/100_4566.jpg" border="0" /></span></div></div></div></div></div><br /><p>Reed ran up to tell us about all of the free food in the hospitality suite... all of the Buffalo Wild Wings and free Mountain Dew he could devour! I stink at this thing called "regularly updating your blog". <span style="color:#3333ff;">(Hey Jen! Thanks for the nudge!)</span> So, I was asked if we survived the Daniel fast, since that was one of the last things I talked about on the blog. Yes, we survived and came out with a new appreciation for a few new foods, a few "keeper" recipes (but definitely not all of them!), and eyes and hearts opened wider to appreciate everything we have. I told someone recently that I'm so good at following the rules that I don't know if that qualifies as a successful fast.... simply "following the rules". It was a great experience though, and I'm still seeing the fruit of it some days. (Unfortunately, the few pounds I lost have come back to me. And I think they brought a friend or two along for the ride.) <br /><br />Well, a couple of weekends ago we headed to NC to host a baby shower for my cousin Joey and his wife, Joy (yes, we took the shower to them!). It was a fun whirlwind of a day. Lots of laughter, lots of good food (recipe to follow) and lots of <span style="color:#ffcccc;">PINK</span>! We are so excited to meet baby Charlotte in a few weeks! I made this punch recipe and it was a big hit... I thought I'd share the recipe here.<br /><br />Frozen Cappucino Punch<br /><br />1/2 cup sugar<br />1/4 cup instant coffee granules<br />1 cup boiling water<br />8 cups milk<br />1 qt. vanilla and 1 qt. chocolate ice cream, softened<br /><br />In a small bowl, combine sugar and coffee. Stir in boiling water until dissolved. Cover and refrigerate until chilled. Just before serving, pour coffee mixture into a one gallon punch bowl. Stir in milk. Add scoops of ice cream and stir until melted.<br /><br />If you have tried a Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty from Wendy's and love it, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that this tastes almost exactly like it, minus the toffee! It's a tad addicting... I almost cried when we had to pour out the leftovers. Couldn't exactly bring them back to Virginia with us, but I did consider it. It really is that good! <br /><br />I think that explains where the pounds came from!!Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-83063482399721393082010-01-30T14:44:00.004-05:002010-01-30T15:16:17.044-05:00Miles can tie his shoes!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjscsihzL6P0V0tG3CXoXOyVwBDqQGvxLS2Pu09cPxoYfH4bBRiOLHOsGeBEfx93Qw34Hort4Stp61FERxVNGdHi5p8UZu9hfIQi0zwVbFI-40s3Xt1_K0arBg7zzlcOJta7aGen1-jcgo/s1600-h/100_4433.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432629186457243618" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjscsihzL6P0V0tG3CXoXOyVwBDqQGvxLS2Pu09cPxoYfH4bBRiOLHOsGeBEfx93Qw34Hort4Stp61FERxVNGdHi5p8UZu9hfIQi0zwVbFI-40s3Xt1_K0arBg7zzlcOJta7aGen1-jcgo/s400/100_4433.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Big happenings around here... no more tying shoes! We had lunch today at my mom's as we usually do, and now are on a liquid fast for the first 24 hours of the fast. We resume eating tomorrow night at dinnertime, when we begin the Daniel Fast which is basically fruits, vegetables, and nuts. I've never participated in a lengthy fast and I am excited to see what God shows us in the 21 days we'll be fasting. </span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">So far I've only been without food for 3 hours. I'm sitting here with a growling stomach and thinking about the people in Haiti who haven't eaten in 3 days, perhaps. I also think of Robin, our Compassion child who eats the equivalent of our "fast" on a daily basis. He writes and lets us know that he ate rice, lentils, and beans for lunch at school. To be writing and telling us that, he must be eating well and wants us to know. I feel overindulgent today.</span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">I'm also doing a Bible study at church... a Beth Moore study on the life of Daniel. What neat timing. The study was planned long ago, but the fast was laid suddenly on the heart of our pastor and within one week we found ourselves fasting. In her teaching, Beth tells us that our "Babylon" finds us in the midst of tremendous overindulgence. Our culture has too much, and it's so true. Too many food choices, too many t.v. channels, too much, too much, too much. As I fast from the "choice food" that Daniel also fasted from, I am hoping to let go of some of my Babylonian influences as well. </span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">My kids are participating as well; for them, it's sugar, soft drinks, and dessert. Reed has also chosen (on his own) to fast from his favorite Xbox 360 game. They were sent home from church today with a calendar and guidelines for prayer each day. I plan to incorporate the fast into our school day, and I pray that they are significantly changed during this time as well. </span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">So, day one has me wondering what things He'll reveal to our family and church. If you are in it with me, what has He revealed to you??</span>Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-58511765159322917282010-01-13T14:14:00.005-05:002010-01-13T14:40:32.843-05:00Milesisms<span style="font-size:130%;color:#ff6600;">"I am readin' words like it's nobody's business!"</span><br /><span style="color:#ff6600;">(during yesterday's Phonics lesson)</span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:180%;color:#00cccc;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:180%;color:#00cccc;">"Reed, have you thrown up yet?" He was diagnosed in early 2009 with cancer, underwent surgery, only to discover that the cancer had returned in September. We were able to be part of two really neat fundraising events for Steve and his family. In September, we helped out with the first annual Steve Freeman Ministries Golf Tournament. It was a great day, and we were so glad that Steve felt well enough to come out.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421932137176368706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwJtsnsfJAPQ9g1I5Fahsnl4gjTynCfyQdLdHzj8Vn54mMb04QW6KpOdNMZuk6EFOkj0-YXfWN-5OPSa71qdvhUUUzBRE-qtkOHyjQexkRjJKrfG-9zlsB3fJp3Gz9AbPb-nsac7C1NU/s200/100_3550.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421932142972558722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil_L41iCWHMleQaFc0xv4mhEFTI5nmF1CbL7rvC-jwb08VXkrQcdrRBkCSh2iBnT6V-9pMNNCwzDrxNqnOh2OCDFSNZtYoV_Ggt-I3oma4gOez3U3oSwrnlhvbO2EdVM4FRBi_tciUxIo/s200/100_3559.jpg" border="0" />In late October, I organized a fundraiser at our local Chick-fil-A for Steve. It was a huge success, and again, we were thrilled that Steve was able to attend.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421932147229346066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtLrvQJtmOlINKrIEVTdsZ8pR0-PTlazvZfAyO13N4lTClc0eS9Sczhhze_dwyhHso4QQpURLsg3rDo-BYBUtbpJnOPUbrwpuGpA68y161ACYdQwgU72t6G0jVOUpDell2uwhwa6N1C8U/s200/100_3685.jpg" border="0" /> There were so many more memories, happy and sad... these were just a few highlights. I realize now since I've been uploading pictures for this post (for the past three days) that it might take me all of 2010 to recap '09 at this rate! So, we'll call it a year. Last night we rang in the new year with Steve and Lisa. We are hoping and praying for a happier, healthier 2010. Happy New Year!<br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><p></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-56297016565350519452009-12-19T15:09:00.003-05:002009-12-19T15:17:47.398-05:00White Christmas<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_9wCMfenQjnNiaKWDrN_KfWLD3QBR6WFGvMPCfKoKnoCfqHHHackDLKEbBlzON2IME6oUJsVfSXTzJLhJwmtgnshpJDjN6N-4aqhgobGiDbp97Ya3Xkrt0cK6By6I1xJvEAoBkYvotI/s1600-h/100_4090.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417043671198570002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_9wCMfenQjnNiaKWDrN_KfWLD3QBR6WFGvMPCfKoKnoCfqHHHackDLKEbBlzON2IME6oUJsVfSXTzJLhJwmtgnshpJDjN6N-4aqhgobGiDbp97Ya3Xkrt0cK6By6I1xJvEAoBkYvotI/s320/100_4090.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNgzBM5PPsjBFMnEo5fJ9W4Q0thMpLHTtbtUlSMDiaO6NHYqyVS4CyUqoJEL8aXSE6kGBLfeHADfQD-6ueoqCTv_PIHsgfVGsopZpnEfVzd6j7VqP1_BoTwTXWAuTu9yBrJbdblI_fhss/s1600-h/100_4082.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417043661087191698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNgzBM5PPsjBFMnEo5fJ9W4Q0thMpLHTtbtUlSMDiaO6NHYqyVS4CyUqoJEL8aXSE6kGBLfeHADfQD-6ueoqCTv_PIHsgfVGsopZpnEfVzd6j7VqP1_BoTwTXWAuTu9yBrJbdblI_fhss/s320/100_4082.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBrplH7GiSvJ8vbP1jMmdszHxTnjU4834VF2ggFmcB5CUAyUsoli7Tysn2CBRcTqcPFC0Rzjzd023PuBshEVjmrZjFbsr6pdFmB9zeve_589fQvYBoarIhb5eL7cPL0wPK1YQJC9hsork/s1600-h/100_4080.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417043656985700834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBrplH7GiSvJ8vbP1jMmdszHxTnjU4834VF2ggFmcB5CUAyUsoli7Tysn2CBRcTqcPFC0Rzjzd023PuBshEVjmrZjFbsr6pdFmB9zeve_589fQvYBoarIhb5eL7cPL0wPK1YQJC9hsork/s320/100_4080.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ABff-kIbXiWllk0qmdIfLLj2CrRJJ4QT43DQ9xP6sYBuXAUa9O4GU0GL7xuwBwF6sE6NCK-e2WlN7q5SNnUJ4lfO2df9hB1icgTaJfKLlzFH1dFQ5LgOJCmdcIf-AUELabc9QjGGVyU/s1600-h/100_4078.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417043649576400962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ABff-kIbXiWllk0qmdIfLLj2CrRJJ4QT43DQ9xP6sYBuXAUa9O4GU0GL7xuwBwF6sE6NCK-e2WlN7q5SNnUJ4lfO2df9hB1icgTaJfKLlzFH1dFQ5LgOJCmdcIf-AUELabc9QjGGVyU/s320/100_4078.jpg" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:georgia;font-size:130%;">Ok, so it isn't Christmas<em> yet</em>, but I can't remember the last time it snowed so close to the big day! If you want to try making them, just buy some silver glass ornaments (Kelly uses clear, but WM didn't have any). Use a sticker for the monogram and add some cute Christmas ribbon... there you go! Wow, 10 years old. Already?? </div><div> </div><div>Ten years ago tonight, Jay and I had been to dinner with friends (Captain Tom's), and then to see a movie (Runaway Bride). I couldn't concentrate on the movie because my contractions were coming almost one right after the other. Braxton-Hicks contractions, as I had been having regularly almost my entire pregnancy, but something about these were different. My first mother's intuition. It was going to happen soon.</div><div> </div><div>And here we are ten years later. </div><br /><div></div><div>I don't always get the mothering thing down right, so believe me when I say it is only by God's grace that we've been blessed with him. With the kind of kid that he is. We point him to Him, and even with all of our faults, he sees Him. He sees Jesus in us. That is grace. I read just the other day that "Mercy is when we don't get what we deserve, but grace is when we get what we don't deserve." I don't deserve this gift, but God saw fit to allow me to be his mother. Wow, what a thought. </div><br /><div></div><div>Reed, in you we see a kind heart, a dependable friend, a forgiving spirit, an eagerness to do right. We see Jesus in you, too. We love you so much and we are so proud that you belong to us. Today is Day One. So far, so good. (It has only been 2 hours or so... I may change my mind later!) At the risk of TMI, (who really reads this besides my mom and Lisa anyway?? Oh yeah, and Jen; I'm ok with her knowing about this!) I plan to blog about my experience and hopefully by the end of the program will have some fabulous results to share. Did I mention "belly fat" is supposed to disappear?!?</div><br /><div></div><div>Here's to a healthy colon! </div><div>(Sorry, I couldn't resist...)</div>Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-57038848587347049712009-07-09T13:47:00.004-04:002009-07-13T12:19:40.637-04:00Our Summer So Far, in PicturesCelebrated Father's Day by the pool...<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ2WI-3NA1diOSSvwfcSxIkMl7EAAMkF_wQIWzCWkijt6s2t9WAZK_Us1IVb2-ooRvCW_x2vz6QJplyElSbPWUXgCF6tpN9HzhjKaz7cJgpMTumW5MmCmpxR__iwVOjpLGnQugTugnPlU/s1600-h/100_2862.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357975011192734210" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ2WI-3NA1diOSSvwfcSxIkMl7EAAMkF_wQIWzCWkijt6s2t9WAZK_Us1IVb2-ooRvCW_x2vz6QJplyElSbPWUXgCF6tpN9HzhjKaz7cJgpMTumW5MmCmpxR__iwVOjpLGnQugTugnPlU/s320/100_2862.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><div><div><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></div><br /><div>Enjoyed a mini-vacation to Nags Head... I found it from another blogger, who had found it in a magazine. Supposedly it's Amy Grant's Grandma's recipe. <br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>Grandma Grant's Banana Bread</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>1 cup sugar</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>1 stick softened butter</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>2 eggs</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>3 bananas, sliced</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>2 cups all-purpose flour</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>1 tsp. baking soda</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>1/4 tsp. salt</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em></em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><strong><em>Cream sugar and butter. Mix in remaining ingredients, and pour into a greased loaf pan. Place pan in a cold oven. Set oven to 300*F and bake 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool in pan 5 minutes then remove from pan and cool completely.</em></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"></span><br />Easy, easy, easy, and soooo good! I should have taken a picture, but honestly, it didn't last very long! Reed loved it as much as I did. We both agree that next time we'll have to add chocolate chips. Enjoy!Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00130483753130348695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8153489431371884851.post-75660282553224460812009-05-27T12:28:00.008-04:002009-05-28T16:00:08.058-04:00What We've Been Up toI haven't written lately, but that doesn't mean we haven't been doing anything worth sharing. Here's a sample of what we've been doing:<br /><br /><ul><br /><li>Our neighborhood had a yard sale... Reed and Miles had both chosen some toys to sell, so they both made a little money. Since it was immediately burning a hole in their pockets (they don't get that from me!), they walked down the street to check out some other yard sales. Miles bought a super cool metal detector! He has had lots of fun with this... and is looking forward to taking it to the beach!<br /></li></ul><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFVSjcIk3aMljnTNj46POty_ocGTuhCEj_uc9IWHTp1RExZN1RhsOuD7e_wNAv2NZSTbfBx4saJwGjTP6J3zcHOODq0ajjuqQEGsAkg53DA6THt1iQ3v3JA_H0Im3HXZKnBQ6uMC48Yw/s1600-h/100_2771.jpg"></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFVSjcIk3aMljnTNj46POty_ocGTuhCEj_uc9IWHTp1RExZN1RhsOuD7e_wNAv2NZSTbfBx4saJwGjTP6J3zcHOODq0ajjuqQEGsAkg53DA6THt1iQ3v3JA_H0Im3HXZKnBQ6uMC48Yw/s1600-h/100_2771.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340544879897675138" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFVSjcIk3aMljnTNj46POty_ocGTuhCEj_uc9IWHTp1RExZN1RhsOuD7e_wNAv2NZSTbfBx4saJwGjTP6J3zcHOODq0ajjuqQEGsAkg53DA6THt1iQ3v3JA_H0Im3HXZKnBQ6uMC48Yw/s320/100_2771.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFVSjcIk3aMljnTNj46POty_ocGTuhCEj_uc9IWHTp1RExZN1RhsOuD7e_wNAv2NZSTbfBx4saJwGjTP6J3zcHOODq0ajjuqQEGsAkg53DA6THt1iQ3v3JA_H0Im3HXZKnBQ6uMC48Yw/s1600-h/100_2771.jpg"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFVSjcIk3aMljnTNj46POty_ocGTuhCEj_uc9IWHTp1RExZN1RhsOuD7e_wNAv2NZSTbfBx4saJwGjTP6J3zcHOODq0ajjuqQEGsAkg53DA6THt1iQ3v3JA_H0Im3HXZKnBQ6uMC48Yw/s1600-h/100_2771.jpg"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><p> </p><ul><li>Had lunch with my friend Corliss and her daughter Codi, and my mom. I had mentioned to Corliss recently that I wanted an old school desk for my front porch. She loves yard sales & antique stores, and I knew if I mentioned it, she'd deliver. Her neighbor just happened to call and ask if she needed an old school desk that was just taking up space at her house! Corliss snatched that thing up and brought it to me - all the way from the rivah - so she literally did deliver! Miles thought it was so cool, and just had to "do school" in it the first day. Then I made it into what I had in mind all along. What do you think? I happen to love it! When my Mema and Aunt Laura come up to visit, or when we head down to Kinston, one of our very favorite things to do is sit down for a good game of cards or a fun new board game. I read about this new game recently on <a href="http://http//laundrypile.blogspot.com/2009/04/little-game-with-lots-of-laughing.html">Heth's</a> blog and knew we had to try it. I won't even attempt to explain it... Heth does a good job explaining it on her original post. Basically, it's like a game of "telephone" (you know, everyone sits in a circle and passes a secret to the next person until it reaches the original person and it ends up nothing like it started as) but with sentences and drawing. We played it this weekend when Mema, Papa, and Aunt Laura came up to visit. So much fun! And just like Heth, I am showing you a couple of examples that had us either laughing 'til we cried or on the verge of wetting our pants. These are from the Friday night games. Enjoy...<br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV7X_hYH4O4-Rpt1Tjs6ZP7_TNddtXAA3Fa_SzNZQruU4DEsysOA8HY2VoMglb714IDJgHhHr5FixUcApseTY9yloLQNksKb_Ef9T_5m4791x9OEFLomg3glIJlwrEiPc3xSpn978K7xQ/s1600-h/100_2749.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334688369517672978" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV7X_hYH4O4-Rpt1Tjs6ZP7_TNddtXAA3Fa_SzNZQruU4DEsysOA8HY2VoMglb714IDJgHhHr5FixUcApseTY9yloLQNksKb_Ef9T_5m4791x9OEFLomg3glIJlwrEiPc3xSpn978K7xQ/s320/100_2749.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><div>This was my original sentence.
